\"\"<\/a>The Department of English Programs is proud to announce that MA TEFL student Ryan McGohon was selected as the 2012 Balian Award recipient.\u00a0 Ryan initially came to Armenia from the USA as a Peace Corps volunteer and dedicated two years of his life to teaching English and various other community projects in Shamshadin.\u00a0 While there, Ryan also managed to obtain donations and supplies from the US for the local hospital as well as other regional medical centers throughout Tavush Marz.\u00a0 Ryan is a prime example of what it means to be an American University of Armenia (AUA) student.\u00a0 With all the qualities he demonstrates, he is poised for great professional and personal success.\u00a0 Congratulations Ryan!!<\/p>\n

MA TEFL student Ryan McGohon was selected as the 2012 Balian Award recipient. The announcement came at this year’s commencement exercises. Ryan initially came to Armenia from the USA as a Peace Corps volunteer and dedicated two years to teaching English and various other community projects in Shamshadin in the Tavush region. Established in 1995 by Vartkes and Rita Balian, the Balian award recognizes the best overall performance of a first-year student.
