The AUA Engineering Research Center (ERC), in collaboration with the University of Essen in Germany, has secured a two-year contract from the Volkswagen Foundation in the field of error control coding and cryptography. The project will engage talented students and provide them with the opportunity to connect with leading scientists in the field. The research project, led by AUA’s Prof. Gurgen Khachatryan, will focus on biometric verification, a leading technology under development to enhance digital security and authentication.  This technology is in great demand in the face of increasing threats of hackers, identity-theft, and other digital crime. This research project is the most recent example of ERC activities that has both academic as well as industrial value.
