AGBU Papazian Library Receives Donation of 1300 Volumes from Robert Krikorian

The American University of Armenia's (AUA) Papazian Library has been enriched by a generous donation of books on social science and humanities from Robert O. Krikorian, Director of Analytic Effectiveness, Bureau of Intelligence and Research at the U.S. Department of State. Krikorian donated more than 1300 volumes from his personal library which were shipped to AUA via the United Armenia Fund. The volumes fall into several categories: Political Science/International Relations, US Foreign Policy, US Diplomatic History, Russia/Soviet History, Eurasian Politics and History, Modern European History, and Genocide Studies.


Extension Program: "Closing the Knowledge Gap"

With a new Summer Youth Program which includes English language, test preparation, media literacy, photography, exploring nature and web design, the American University of Armenia's (AUA) Extension Program is working to "close the knowledge gap in the private as well as public sectors in Armenia," says Dr. Arpie Balian, Externsion's new director. "The new program encourages young people to become 'an AUA-teen'," continues Balian, "helping them to develop skills for academic achievement and life-long learning."


Board of Trustees Thanks Outgoing Vice President Bruce Janigian

AUA's Board of Trustees honored and thanked Bruce Janigian, outgoing Vice President for Development and Government Relations, for his service to the university. In a May 4 presentation, the Board of Trustees expressed its appreciation for Janigian's six years of dedicated service to AUA and wished him success in his future endeavors.


Ambassador Kazhoyan Speaks to Students

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Director of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, recently spoke with second year students in Political Science and International Affairs about "How the Caucasus is Viewed from Abroad." Ambassador Kazhoyan, who has served in Greece, Cyprus and Slovenia, related his own experiences serving abroad as he discussed how other countries perceive Armenia and the Caucasus. Following his remarks, Ambassador Kazhoyan responded to numerous questions.


Commencement 2012 Speakers Announced

AUA Commencement 2012 will feature VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian (in Armenian) and Incoming AUA Provost and current Interim Dean at the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain Dennis Leavens (in English). The commencement ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11 AM, in the university's large auditorium.
